Gap Appoints Former Tapestry Executive as New CEO

Gap has announced the appointment of Mark Breitbard as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective March.

Breitbard brings a wealth of experience in the retail and fashion industries to his new role at Gap, having previously served as CEO of Tapestry, where he oversaw several of the company's brands, including Coach, Kate Spade, and Stuart Weitzman.

Gap has been facing challenges in recent years, with declining sales and store closures. The company hopes that Breitbard's leadership will help it to revive its business and regain its position as a leading retailer.

In a statement, Gap's Board Chair, Bob Fisher, said that Breitbard is "a proven leader with a strong track record of success in the retail and fashion industries." He added that Breitbard's "deep understanding of the consumer and his ability to drive growth will be invaluable to Gap as we navigate the evolving retail landscape."
